Job Summary:
The Environmental Health Inspector is responsible for conducting inspections and investigations to ensure compliance with environmental health and safety regulations pertaining to agriculture and environmental science. This role plays a critical part in safeguarding public health and promoting environmental sustainability. The Environmental Health Inspector will work closely with other professionals in the field to identify and mitigate potential risks and hazards to ensure a safe and healthy environment.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Conduct regular inspections of agricultural facilities, environmental sites, and related establishments to assess compliance with environmental health regulations.
2. Investigate complaints, incidents, and potential violations related to environmental health and safety standards.
3. Collect samples of air, water, soil, and other environmental elements for laboratory analysis, as required.
4. Evaluate and analyze data obtained during inspections to identify potential risks and hazards.
5. Prepare detailed inspection reports, documenting findings, observations, and recommendations for corrective actions.
6. Provide guidance and recommendations to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and standards.
7. Collaborate with relevant stakeholders, including government agencies, industry professionals, and community members, to address environmental health concerns.
8. Conduct educational outreach programs to raise awareness about environmental health issues and promote sustainable practices.
9. Stay up to date with current regulations, advancements, and best practices in the field of environmental health inspection.
10. Assist in the development and implementation of environmental health policies and procedures.
Skills and Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Health, or a related field.
2. Previous experience in environmental health inspection or a similar role preferred.
3. Strong knowledge of environmental health regulations, including those specific to agriculture and environmental science.
4. Familiarity with sampling and laboratory analysis techniques for air, water, soil, and other environmental elements.
5. Proficient in conducting inspections and investigations, including the ability to identify potential hazards and non-compliance issues.
6. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to assess data, identify patterns, and make informed recommendations.
7. Strong verbal and written communication skills to prepare detailed reports and effectively communicate with stakeholders.
8. Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating excellent organizational and time management skills.
9. Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to various locations for inspections and investigations.
10. Commitment to promoting environmental sustainability and public health.
